The activities kicked off on Wednesday, June 28th, with students from first to fourth grade entering the auditorium wearing French berets and flaunting their excitement for the activities to come. Here, the French department awaited the little ones with a fun and educational itinerary full of surprises.

In the decorative aspect, the venue underwent a remarkable transformation, exuding French elegance, thanks to the creative vision of the 12th-grade students led by Ah Young Kocha from 12.3. These breathtaking decorations offered picturesque settings for students to capture timeless memories. It was also adorned with various educational cardboard backdrops and energetic games presented by high school students, all related to French culture.

After the children sat down, Madame Fanny Estrella greeted them with an introductory speech, in which she told the students about what French Week represents and hopes to bring, being such a culturally innovative event. After this initiation, entertaining and interactive learning videos were presented to the kids. To close off this part of the activity, they sang "La Marseillaise", France’s national anthem.

This was followed by the most exciting part for our participants: the games. Students from ninth to twelfth grade presented all sorts of different games with the goal of teaching and fomenting French learning, from colors and numbers to animals and food, with some games offering prizes, such as candy. The games that the children were able to enjoy included tic tac toe, memory challenges, and board games like Twister, which would include a multitude of prizes for those who made their best efforts to win.

After this amazing first day, it could be said that the opening of French Week had a wonderfully successful start.

The next day, even more kids got the chance to participate in the auditorium activities, playing the games made by the high school students. One of the particular highlights of the day was the performance of 11.2’s singing and dancing choreography. They performed the song “You Belong With Me” by Taylor Swift with an original dance to go along with the song. The children watching the performance loved it, as with every movement they saw, they cheered louder and louder. Similarly to the first day, the event was closed off with a performance of “La Marseillaise” by all students and teachers.

The staff and French teachers all did an incredible job at orchestrating the event, proving that without them, this week would have never been possible.

The school reached new heights of cultural celebration as it wrapped up an enchanting French Week. High schoolers came together to witness an array of remarkable performances presented by their fellow students, directed by Madame Fanny Estrella. The presence of the French Alliance added a touch of grandeur to the festivities as they joined the enthusiastic audience in applauding the remarkable talents of Oxford International School's students.

With anticipation mounting, the curtain rose on the talent showcase, commencing with a captivating performance by the school's majorettes. Their graceful baton-twirling movements set the stage for a series of unforgettable performances.

Next in the spotlight was class 11.2, who, once again, mesmerized everyone with their collective rendition of Taylor Swift's "You Belong with Me.” It was then followed by the heartfelt atmosphere created by Vanessa, a gifted student from grade 10, rendition of "Je l'aime à mourir" by Francis Cabrel.

However, the younger kids did not fall behind. Andres, a ninth-grade student, delivered an exceptional performance of the French song "Salut" by Joe Dassin, effortlessly showcasing his guitar skills and vocal prowess, as did tenth-grade student Daniela Arauz, who also displayed her dazzling vocals, delivering a rendition of "Dernière Danse”.
