The school’s annual Science Fair was conducted last Wednesday September 20th, but this time as part of OIS’ Stem Week. Here, students from Elementary and Middle School presented their captivating projects based on the theme of sustainability.
The Science Fair is one of the most-awaited days for students, especially those who are passionate about science. Stem Week was full of exciting and enlightening activities, and the science fair was one of them. Students did commendable jobs with their projects; seeing them explain their work with bliss was poignant listening. The subject of research for each project was extremely creative, ranging from eolic energy to saving lives under water. There were also projects about wind power, water purifiers, and many more.
Many students said it was challenging to work in groups and coordinate, but more than that, they all enjoyed the process of building their marvelous projects in teams. Despite this fact, they all stood together, maintained unity, and gave an example of teamwork.
This year’s science fair winners were Scorina Gonzalez, Andrés Tovar, Santiago G., Fernando Alvarado, and Adrián Montilla, for their project about a Robot Cleaner. Second place was taken by Fernando Campos, Sara Amador, Sofía Masi, Elizabeth Zhang, Yamir García, Aimeé Lang, and Valeria Campos for Community Composting, and third place was obtained by Daniel Trujillo, Paula Santamaría, Michael Lee, and Arantza Quiróz for ADPM-1.
